Why are so many people giving Chernobyl Diaries such a bad review?
They’re complaining about how there “wasn’t enough blood” or the lack of back drop.
Well first, horror thrillers don’t need to be bloody to be horror thrillers. Actually, this movie was quiet creative in the fact that it managed to scare you even with barely showing the “scary creatures”, let alone any gore. And anyways, gore isn’t horrifying, it’s just gross. It’s like saying watching meat being processed is scary.
As for the back drop, I do agree that the film lacked a lot of closure and rushed the ending a lot because the beginning was so slow. Yet, that beginning really added to the scare because it slowly relieved that Pripyat wasn’t deserted. And that really made the first scare or two so great, the fact that pace changed so drastically. As for info on Chernobyl, everyone should know about it and if you don’t then you are just really ignorant and lazy. I would have liked the ending to tell more about what the hell happened inside of Pripyat and Chernobyl to lead to the events in the movie, but whatever. You can’t change how they produced it.
In my opinion, Chernobyl Diaries deserves a 9/10.
Just saw Chernobyl Diaries with my matesprit~ I’m a babbi when it comes to realistic ideas in scary movies (The only other movie I’ve been scared by is Quarantine even though it was terrible xD ) so of course I got scared and actually had to hold my breath at certain points of the movie.
I LOVED the jump scares it had. They were good at building suspense so that you knew something was going to happen but for most of the first half of the movie and maybe some moments of the second half you didn’t know what would happen~ The acting wasn’t amazing, but it was alright. I wish the film could have been longer so that they could have made the plot and back story a bit more in depth. It would be really good if they could have done that. But yeah, this movie has me really interested in the Chernobyl disaster and the book that the movie was based off of so I am going to try to buy the book tomorrow >:3
So basically: Don’t watch it if you get easily scared, don’t expect an amazing plot or great acting, and expect to become really interested in the actual incident. I would recommend this is if you like jump scare movies~Oh yeah, the gif is me in my mind throughout a lot of the movie xD
^ I second most of this.
The acting was mediocre at best for much of the movie, but I wasn’t expecting much on that front. What really impressed em was the atmosphere and build up. Much of the movie was just really eerie and built up suspense to the big scares. Even when it wasn’t supposed to be scary it had been scary, or at least I thought so.
My only problem with the movie is that they rushed the ending a bit and never explained the stuff in the disaster area.
Other than that, it’s a great movie. GO SEE IT!
OMNIPONY! CHALLENGER APPEARED!
